When submitting documents to us, please submit a scanned PDF of each document.
If you don’t have access to a dedicated scanner, please use your smartphone’s built-in document scanning feature. This creates one clean, multi-page PDF for each document, which is exactly what we need.
Below are simple instructions for both iPhone and Android phones:
If you have an iPhone, use the built-in Notes App:
- Open the Notes app (yellow and white icon). If you don’t see the Notes app icon, just swipe down from the middle of your screen and start typing the word Notes and the app will appear.
- Create a new note by tapping the New Note button (square with a pencil in the bottom-right corner).
- Tap the Attach button (camera or paperclip icon above the keyboard).
- Tap Scan Documents.
- Hold the phone over the first page. The app will automatically capture it.
- Move to the next page under your phone and continue until all pages of the first document are auto-captured.
- Tap Save (in newer iOS versions, this is the large yellow checkmark in the top-right corner).
- Tap the Share button (the square with an upward arrow).
- Choose Mail and email the single PDF to debbie@farrlawfirm.com.
- Repeat each of the above steps for each additional document.
If you have an Android phone, use Google Drive (installed by default):
- Open the Google Drive app (triangle icon). If you do not see the Google Drive app icon, swipe down from the middle of the screen and start typing Drive. The Google Drive app will appear.
- Tap the + button (usually bottom-right).
- Tap Scan (camera icon inside the menu).
- Hold the phone over the first page and the app should auto-capture it. If auto-capture is not enabled, you might need to click the shutter button for each page.
- Continue scanning each page.
- Confirm the file type is PDF and tap Save.
- Email the single PDF to us.
- Repeat each of the above steps for each additional document.
Samsung users may also use Samsung Notes or the Camera app’s Scan / Document mode.
All of these methods above result in a single PDF file for each document, which is what we need.
Why This Helps You and Us:
- Pages stay in the correct order.
- Text is clearer and easier to read and allows us to use OCR (optical character recognition) to quickly search for relevant language.
- Files are smaller and transmit reliably.
- We can review your documents much faster.
Please Don’t Send us Photographs of Multi-Page Documents:
- Please do not use the regular Camera app or send us photos of multi-page documents.
- Please do not send blurry, angled, or shadowed images.
Thank you for helping us work efficiently!
