How to Scan and Upload Documents from Your Smartphone

When submitting documents to us, please submit a scanned PDF of each document.

If you don’t have access to a dedicated scanner, we recommend using the free Adobe Scan app on your smartphone. It automatically creates high-quality PDF files that can be uploaded securely to our client portal. Download Adobe Scan using one of the links below:

• iPhone/iPad (Apple App Store): Adobe Scan for iPhone/iPad
• Android (Google Play): Adobe Scan for Android

This creates one clean, multi-page PDF for each document, which is exactly what we need.

Below are simple instructions for both iPhone and Android phones:

For iPhone:

1. Download and install the free Adobe Scan app from the App Store.
2. Open Adobe Scan and allow it to access your camera if prompted.
3. Place your document on a flat, well-lit surface.
4. Point your iPhone’s camera at the document. Adobe Scan will automatically detect and capture each page. Continue scanning until all pages have been captured.
5. Tap Save PDF.
6. Tap the Share button at the top right of the screen (the square with an upward-pointing arrow).
7. Tap Send a Copy.
8. Tap Save to Files.
9. Choose a location in the Files app (remember the location) and tap Save.
10. Open the Farr Law Firm secure client portal link in Safari.
11. Tap Upload, browse to the PDF you saved in your Files app, select it, and complete the upload.

For Android phones:

1. Download and install the free Adobe Scan app from the Google Play Store.
2. Open Adobe Scan and allow it to access your camera if prompted.
3. Point your phone’s camera at the document. Adobe Scan will automatically detect and capture each page. Continue scanning until all pages have been captured.
4. Tap Save PDF.
5. Open the saved PDF.
6. Tap the Share button.
7. Choose Save to device, Files, or File Manager (the wording varies by Android phone and version).
8. Open your Farr Law Firm secure client portal in your web browser.
9. Tap Upload, browse to the PDF you saved, select it, and complete the upload.

• Text is clearer and easier to read and allows us to use OCR (optical character recognition) to quickly search for relevant language.
• Files are smaller and transmit reliably.
• We can review your documents much faster.

Please Try to Avoid Sending Photographs of Multi-Page Documents:

• Please avoid using the regular Camera app or sending us photos of multi-page documents.
• Please avoid sending blurry, angled, or shadowed images.
