Happy 4th of July!

Nothing says Fourth of July like beautiful weather, good food, and time spent with family and friends. We have been blessed with such gorgeous weather up here in the northern Virginia area, and I hope it continues to accommodate all of the Independence Day festivals, parades and celebrations with our loved-ones this weekend.

This Independence Day, we remember the men and women who took the brave leap of faith to establish this Nation.  We also remember and honor those who have fought to preserve our freedoms, principles, and the American way of life.  It is a day that we should take advantage of in order to remember those who have made these sacrifices, as well as a day to reflect on how we can help and serve these people by giving back.  Below, you will find a few tidbits of information you may find useful.  If you are a veteran, please be aware of a new property tax exemption in Virginia, and a useful article explaining how to receive a Veteran Mortgage Loan.  We also would like to invite you to attend our next seminar, and are extending a discount to veterans.

First, disabled veterans can now take advantage of a new property tax exemption in Virginia. Read our recent article on our National Blog or our Virginia Blog for more details.  Originally approved by voters in November 2010, this statute will positively affect an estimated 7,350 disabled veterans living in the state of Virginia, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. For most people living in the city or suburbs this will be a sufficient and appreciated break.

Second, Veterans Today recently published an article; “How to Receive Veteran Mortgage Loans.” “Through a mandate, Veterans Affairs will guarantee a maximum of 25 percent of home loans up to just over $100,000 with a maximum loan amount of $417,000.”

Finally, if you haven’t attended one of our seminars and would like to attend this month, please be sure to RSVP soon.  Our next seminar will take place July 23rd, and will be at the stunning Mason Inn and Conference Center.  We especially like this venue, as it is conveniently located off route 123 (Ox road), just before the City of Fairfax.  RSVP by clicking here, or you may call us at (703)-691-1888 and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have.  We keep our seminars relatively short (about 90 minutes), so that you may enjoy your Saturday and grab a bite to eat at one of the many nearby restaurants afterwards.

To show our patriotism and appreciation, we here at the Farr Law Firm are now offering a 15% military discount to all active-duty and retired members of our armed forces, as a salute to you for continuing to make sacrifices to preserve the freedoms of our country.  Please be safe this Fourth of July and we hope to see you soon!
